CESRA announcement: SKA Science Working Group ************************************************************** SKA Office (www.skatelescope.org) is interested to form a solar/heliosheric physics focus group and the hope is that this focus group becomes “Science Working Group” (SWG) as done in other areas (e.g. Cosmology or pulsars). The Science Working Group is a scientific advisory group that provides input to the Office of the Square Kilometre Array Organization (SKAO) on issues relating to the design, construction, and future operations of the SKA that are likely to affect the Observatory’s scientific capability, productivity and user relations (https://www.skatelescope.org/swg-terms-of-reference/) If you are interested in solar/heliospheric related science with SKA, please consider to sign-up for the Group Membership (link available for the mailing list subscribers) You need to provide your Name, Email address and Research Interests (using comments box) and choose either 'Core member' - active group member in the SWG and would typically have a telecon every month OR 'Associate member' who are part of the working group, but who may not have the time or resources to make significant contributions on a regular basis. Please sign up before April 5, 2015 *********************************************************** A message from Eduard Kontar: This is an email for all CESRA colleagues who might be interested in solar science with SKA (www.skatelescope.org). I just received email from Evan Keane, who have been assigned as the SKA Office contact for the Solar Physics focus group. The hope is that this focus group becomes a bona fide “Science Working Group” (SWG). On a pressing matter, its to highlight to you a workshop in Stockholm in August. https://indico.skatelescope.org/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=342 This workshop is the first step towards the formation of Key Science Projects (KSPs) for the SKA. At present there is quite a low representation from the solar community (only 2 people) in the registered participants. If you would like to attend I’d encourage you to do so, and to register as soon as possible as the deadline for this is March 27th. best wishes Eduard ***********************************************************
