The CASSINI Project

The CASSINI project, as proposed in the open discussion at the end of the Workshop, aims at bringing together observers and theoreticians for a better understanding of pulsating stars. The goal is to provide a common platform on which to compare models and observables, with a target date for a first iteration set to late summer 2005. The platform includes:

- Three fiducial targets:

- Two fundamental Cepheids: l Car (long period) and
δ Ceph
(short period)
- One first overtone Cepheid: FF Aql

- Common input parameters :
to be found on this page

- Period
- Bolometric luminosity
- Chemical composition
- Mass-Luminosity relationship

- Harmonized model output products:

- 20 points over the period (with φ=0 for minimum radius)
- Products for internal structure models:

- T, ρ, P, v as a function of φ and τ

- Products for radiative transfer models:

- I(λ, φ, μ), for 2000 spectral points
between λ =0.5 and λ =2.5μm
- Line profiles in Hα and FeI
