At IRSOL and Specola Solare Ticinese we have:
- 50 years Specola Solare Ticinese, articles on the local newspapers and interviews,
- a day of open house on 10th June, coinciding with the European Open Doors Day (IHY),
- conferences about heliophysics organized in the Ticino secondary schools,
- opportunity for organized groups to visit Specola Solare Ticinese or IRSOL (for special interested groups)

A large exposition focussing on the IHY has opened near Zurich on Friday, January 5. The exposition has been developed by the Observatoire de Meudon, ETH Zurich and others. It covers the Sun, planets, and the Heliosphere. The exposition is produced commercially and will travel through large shopping centers in Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Italy and possibly other countries. It will be seen by millions of people. Texts are at a popular level and available in German, French, and Italian. The exposition can be rented by shopping centers and institutions. The installation of CALLISTO radio spectrometers around the world makes progress. First light has been reported from India (see figure, showing the flare of 2006/12/5 at 10:27 UT). CALLISTOs will start operating in Siberia before the end of the year, and in Costa Rica in April 2007. A second site in India is also being equipped (Gauribidanur observatory) and in Mexico, the developments continue. At the end of 2007 the Sun will be observed 24 hours per day by identical instruments in low meter waves. This range is ideal for radio emissions of Coronal Mass Ejections and flare produced electron beams escaping to interplanetary space.

Progress with e-CALLISTO The deployment of solar radio spectrometers of the CALLISTO type to cover a 24 hour survey of solar activity makes progress.
The radio spectrometers will observe the meter wavelengths from 45 to 400 MHz.
Work is well advanced in Irkutsk (Siberia), has started in Ooty (India) and there are positive responses from Mexico and Costa Rica..........................................................

1. We have proposed to launch a world-wide watch of the radio emissions of the Sun. Identical spectrometers, CALLISTO, will be installed in Europe (Switzerland and possibly Belgium), India, Japan or Siberia, and USA or Mexico. This net of radio spectrometers will provide 24 hour survey of solar activity, in particular of the low frequency radio waves (Type II), indicating shock waves that penetrate into interplanetary space.
2. We are collaborating with a commercial company to establish an exposition on the Sun that travels to various shopping malls in 2007 - 2008.
3. We are building up a web-page to inform about solar research in Switzerland.
